The proposal was developed following a workshop led by a PhD researcher from the University of Minho, Architect Rui Ferreira, whose research focuses on modular timber architecture. As part of his doctoral thesis, he developed an innovative modular timber construction system, which was presented to participants as a technical and methodological reference framework.

However, the workshop functioned primarily as a conceptual starting point, triggering the research and design process that later led to the independent development of the proposal for PNAM – Students (National Prize for Timber Architecture). Rather than serving as a fixed framework, it provided a critical and experimental foundation, allowing for a deeper understanding of timber construction, the exploration of modular systems, and the consolidation of technical principles that ultimately supported the competition entry.
